Civil Engineering


The country's growth needs engineers to face some vital challenges. With a more robust increase in the Brazilian GDP, there is an urgent need to build new houses, schools, day care centers, hospitals, energy and water supply systems, basic sanitation, warehouses, factories, power plants, roads, railways, harbors, airports, and all the infrastructure required by the countryside and developing cities. Accompanying the national demand for engineers and envisioning the national growth, UFGD presented to society and the Federal Government in 2011, its Expansion Plan in Engineering courses, for the period from 2011 to 2020, with the Faculty of Engineering contemplated with the Creation, in 2013, of the Civil Engineering course. The first group started in 2014 with 60 students, being the third most popular course at the University with 39.73 applicants/seat. The course aims to train professionals capable of meeting the different demands relevant to Civil Engineering area, with a critical, creative and innovative vision, through a solid training. The course strives to promote and maintain a level of quality in the training activity, with the goal of achieving excellence at a national level. The labor market becomes promising through achievements of social and human interest related to enterprises for the exploitation and use of natural resources; means of locomotion and communications; urban, rural and regional buildings, services and equipment, in their technical aspects and industrial development within the limits of the specific attributions of the civil engineer.
