Medicine
One of the most respected and competitive professions, Medicine aims to discover the cause of human diseases, seeking for their prevention and cure. The UFGD course, therefore, aims to train professionals with solid technical-scientific knowledge based on humanist bases, with an ethical posture, social awareness and responsibility and citizenship commitment to citizenship, in addition to the ability to communicate and value the doctor-patient relationship. According to the Federal Council of Medicine, the number of doctors who do not practice their profession in Brazil is quite small (1.7%), and unemployment is almost non-existent (0.8%). According to the same Council, most doctors practice Medicine in their offices (74.7%) and in the public sector (69.7%); a smaller percentage does so with reference to the private sector (59.3%). And there are also doctors who work in the philanthropic sector (20.3%) and as professors (18.9%), showing the great diversity of physicians' fields of activity.
