International Relations

The course of International Relations of the Federal University of Grande Dourados aims at developing professionals who are able to think about, analyze and execute actions and policies which articulate expressions of internal and external issues related to contemporary questions from interstate, international, transnational and supranational agendas. The objective of the course is to create expert professionals in the area of international relations so that they can work at all levels (interstate, regional and transnational) and at various positions in different institutions.
This bachelor’s degree in international relations is established in the fields of politics, economics, history, law and sociology. Its focus is to develop a critical, humanist and multidisciplinary education for undergraduates. Such an education is supported by the three guiding principles of the pedagogical structure of the course: cooperation, human rights and development.
Dourados is a city located in a bordering region of Brazil and this makes this course of international relations very specific. This specificity subsidizes its specialty. Thus, graduates from this course will be prepared to work in bordering regions. We understand the importance of developing professionals who can deal with all sorts of situations which happen in these types of regions due to their solid knowledge about problems which derive from national and regional diversities and asymmetries. Matters related to cooperation, human rights and development shall be interdisciplinarily approached in order to help create professionals who can find solutions to social, economic, political and cultural problems in the region of Dourados-MS.
Furthermore, this undergraduate course of international relations is intended to help students develop their analytical capacity so that they can contribute to the insertion of Brazil in the international context. In order to do so, the course aims at offering students not only education, but also research opportunities from the beginning of their studies. Community outreach activities and student exchange experiences are also part of this integrative pedagogical practice.
